I was debating for a long time about what my next project should be.  I had searched far and wide for an image that inspired me, yet wasn't too overdone.
I've been a fan of the Wheel of Time series of books for quite a few years, and I had the idea to model out the White Tower of the Aes Sedai.  I didn't want to have to read through the series again and write down every detail of the tower, so I tried to find a nice representation.  Finally, I found one.  It is a sketch done by Richard Boye on the Wheel of Time encyclopedia website.  It is not the most accurate image compared to the description in the books, but has such exquisite detail, and it's something I can be excited to recreate.
I'd like to model in Maya and assemble in Unreal (UDK), but there is not yet an ActorX plugin for Maya 2011.  This means I'll probably have to wait for that before I can move it over.  But I can start modeling in the meantime.   I made a list of the assets I'll need, and this is going to be no small task, especially since I'm doing this in my free time.
I'm excited to see the final product, and I'm extra excited since this isn't for a class I can take my time and really make it excellent.
